Mixtures and Solutions

A mixture can be physically separated. 

That means it can be taken apart without chemicals.

 

 

An example of a mixture is concrete.

It is made of air, water, sand, rock, cement and some other things.

Concrete can be separated back into those things through physical ways.

 Mixtures can be homogeneous or heterogeneous

A homogeneous mixture is the same throughout. 

A homogeneous mixture will look smooth and uniform throughout.

Saltwater and Koolaid are examples of homogeneous mixtures.

A heterogeneous mixture will not be uniform when you look at different areas of the mixture.

A chocolate chip cookie is a good example of a heterogeneous mixture.

You can see places where there are no chocolate chips and areas that have chocolate chips.
